Tis’ the season for giving, and as Pittsburgh temperatures drop, one of the best ways to give is with winter coat donations. This year, Nova Place is teaming up with Perry High School to spread warmth to the residents of the Northside. As Nova Place’s Coat Drive approaches, we’ve compiled a few reasons why its especially important to donate this season.

-Health experts estimate that even a 2-degree drop in body temperature can result in reduced heart rate, loss of coordination, and confusion; this problem can be solved with a warm coat.


-For most Americans living in poverty, a warm coat is considered a “budget extra” or a “luxury purchase.”


-The 2017-2018 winter season is predicted to be one of the harshest in recent history, with a predicted 45-50 inches of snowfall.


-Unlike other measures of charitable giving, this won’t cost you a thing.

Now that you know how crucial it is to donate this holiday season, here’s what you need to know about the Nova Place Coat Drive:

Who: All donations will be distributed to families from Perry High School


What: Donate adult-sized, new or lightly used, worn and washed winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves


When: November 13th—December 14th from 9AM—5PM


Where: Donations can be delivered to the front desk of Alloy 26
